I see the world through ancient eyes Far greater than my years I see the people hurt by lies And those haunted by their fears I've seen the Phoenix come and go Resurrected in its flame I've seen the rise and fall of those Who seek their fortune and their fame I've sat and laughed and shook my head Watching ego's fools run by Claiming life owes them a debt Though they cannot answer why I've seen mankind wage their wars Over things they will not mend And never stop to think about The message that it sends To those who will follow them Upon Earth's little stage When they read about their legacy Lives filled with hate and rage
